Food for "Those" Days!

In the days of PMS, you crave for sweet and salty foods? This happens to a number of women. With a smart choice of foods, beat those problems and stay slim.


It is not easy for women to face PMS every month. In addition to sudden changes of mood, women are tortured and with a sudden craving for food. Sweet, salty or sour? Depends on the moment.  Just because of these desires, women often gain weight during PMS. What you have to do is to beat premenstrual syndrome with smart food choices that will ease your symptoms.

Nuts

During PMS, women are very emotionally sensitive and therefore prone to sudden changes of mood. In order to calm your nerves, choose foods that will soothe you. Nuts are such food. They are rich in magnesium and omega-3 fatty acids, elements that will calm you down.  Arm yourself, then, with spinach, holistic grains, and all kind of nuts, and make them your best friend during PMS.

Fruits and vegetables

In the days of PMS, your body is looking for much healthier foods in order to protect itself from stress hormones. So be sure to eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, and those that are abundant with water are especially recommended. Although the body in those days is filled with liquid, additional liquid will force the body to clean it self inside much often.

Specific food for one meal

To make it easy on yourself, do not deny yourself a particular delicious food for which you long for. You do not need to exaggerate, but for one meal a day, treat yourself with some food that you enjoy. It could be lobster, cheese and fine wine. Or veal steak with a delicious salad. The choice is yours, but be moderate.

Foods rich in fiber

One of unpleasant side effects during PMS is constipation. This causes swelling and can be painful. To avoid that, choose foods rich in fiber like brown rice, beans and other fibrous vegetables. This will not only help your intestines, it will replenish your body with necessary energy.

Ice cream

Body, during PMS, requires the so-called "comfort food". This category includes sweets and carbohydrates.  Many women in those days crave for chocolate, or pasta with full-fat cheese. Try to eat these foods because you will do yourself a big favor.  When you have a desire for comfort food, eat ice cream. It will please you, without bad consequences.
